Joyce Ashburn Obituary

Joyce Ann McCarthy Ashburn, age 64, of Toccoa, GA, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a period of declining health. Joyce was born on February 16, 1957 to the late Eugene McCarthy and Bessie Ramey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Bobby Hunter and his wife Lynda of Clayton, GA, George McCarthy of Columbia, SC, and Richard McCarthy of Clayton, GA.

Joyce is survived by her husband John Ashburn and son Brandon McCarthy of Toccoa, GA. She is also survived by brothers, Ron Hunter and wife Linda of Jasper, GA and Jimmy Hunter and wife Debra of Mountain City, GA, and sisters, Jan Ferguson and husband Larry of Tiger, GA, Roselee McCarthy of New York, NY, Mary Jo Connor of Gastonia, NC, and Angelia Taylor of Clayton, GA as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family will have a memorial service in Joyce’s honor at a later date.

Joyce’s family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the care and compassion they gave her in her final days.
