David Burch Ramey

David Burch Ramey, age 50, of Wiley, Georgia, passed away on September 9, 2020.

David was born the son of the late, Johnny Ramey and the late Emma Jean Carpenter Ramey on July 9, 1970. In his professional life he worked at Reeves Building Supply in the outside sales department. He worked with EMS in Rabun County and Durahm Town. David was a past president of the Rabun County Little League Organization. He served his Country as a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Division, and served in Desert Storm during the invasion of Kuwait. He was kind hearted, giving, and always loving to everyone. He consistently did things for others anonymously, never for any recognition, but just because he cared for people. He was a loving father, brother and friend. As a father, he was incredibly active in his children’s lives, and never missed an event they were involved in. He loved his family and enjoyed reading comic books in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, his nephew, Chris Whigham,  preceded him in death.

His survivors include his former wife and continued best friend, Gina Ramey; his son, Blake Ramey, of Lakemont, Georgia; his two daughters, Baylee Ramey and Makenzie Ramey, both of Lakemont, Georgia; his two sisters, Cheryl Helms, of Gadston, Alabama, Melinda Brennan, of Oxford, Georgia. David was known as “Uncle” to many people.

A drive thru visitation will be held at the Beck Funeral Home on Saturday September 12, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

The family will hold a private graveside service on Sunday September 13, 2020.

In order to show your condolences and to honor David’s faithful service to the community, especially his tireless dedication to the Volunteer Fire Service, the family has asked the community to line the procession route on new highway 441 from Beck Funeral Home in Clayton to Wiley. The procession will leave Beck Funeral Home at 1:40 pm on Sunday September 13, 2020 and head south on new 441.  

The family will have a Celebration of Life service at the Lakemont Baptist Church at 3:30 pm, Sunday September 13, 2020.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ramey Family Benefit Fund that has been set up at Rabun County Bank P.O. Box 845 Clayton, Georgia 30525.
